In 1950 my grandfather Afro, together with my grandmother Mafalda and my father Vitaliano, opened the butcher shop in Via Puccini in Salsomaggiore. Later they moved to the current store in via Loschi – in the center of the village. And precisely because of this central position, they had to struggle a lot, since the belle epoque of that time considered a butcher shop as an unsuitable activity for a central street in the country.
I decided to write a blog because I have a mad desire to communicate and share my knowledge, my work experiences, my aspirations. I also want to inform my clients and all those who wish to have information about the world of meat we eat, smart shopping, baking tricks, condiments and dish presentation. I want to make myself known closer, because, by now, we know – with the competition of the big retail chains, we, small artisans, must distinguish ourselves by putting our faces on it! Today the shopkeeper cannot afford to remain only a merchant and in the business resists only those who can communicate effectively with customers with contemporary tools. I am fortunate to live in a small reality, like Salsomaggiore, where behind everything you see the face of those who propose it to you – and every face is a story. So you know how and what to choose! Enjoy the reading!
